What a small business website costs

With me it’s £595, £1,150 or £2,400, paid once. Here’s what each price gets you, what pushes a price up, and what it costs to keep running.

The three prices

One number, paid once. No hourly rate and no monthly fee to me.

One page

£595

For a trade that wins work from one phone call. Live in as little as 2 days.

Full site

£1,150

Four or five pages and a page for every town you cover. Live within 14 days.

Site and system

£2,400

Everything in the full site, plus booking, a quote tool or a gallery you update yourself.

What pushes a price up

A site costs more when it does more for you. These are the things that change the number.

Pages 01

  • One long page suits a trade that wins work from one call
  • Four or five pages give each service room
  • A page for each town you cover helps you turn up in each one

Things it does 02

  • Booking, so customers pick a slot
  • A quote tool that works out a price as they tick
  • A gallery or price list you update yourself

What you have ready 03

  • Your prices
  • Photos of your work
  • The towns you cover
  • The more of this you have, the quicker it goes

What doesn’t 04

  • Your trade: a roofer costs the same as a florist
  • Where you are in the UK
  • Changes in the first two weeks after it goes live

What it costs to run

The build is paid once. After that, two things keep it online, and both are in your name.

Your domain 01

  • Your web address, like yourbusiness.co.uk
  • A yearly fee, paid to the company you register it with
  • Registered in your name, not mine

Your hosting 02

  • Where the site lives
  • A light site needs very little, which keeps this cheap
  • Set up in your name, so you can leave whenever you want

Me 03

  • Nothing monthly
  • Two weeks of free changes after it goes live
  • Anything after that is priced up front, only if you ask

Questions about price

Is there a monthly fee?

Not to me. You pay once. The only running costs are your domain and your hosting, and both are in your name.

Do I pay it all up front?

No. Half to start, the other half the day it goes live.

Why not use a website builder?

You can, and some people should. You build it yourself, you pay the builder every month for as long as you want the site, and it only lives there while you keep paying. With me it’s built for you, paid once, and you own it.

What if I need more later?

Ask and I’ll give you a fixed price for it, the same way as the first one. Nothing gets added to your bill without you saying yes.

How do I know the price won’t change?

You get the price and the go-live date in writing the day you ring, before any work starts.
